Mindfulness in my classroom

Ideas to use with my learners in class:
1)    I will create a “PEACE” a poster in my classroom with the PEACE definition because even if we do not use mindfulness it is a great way for our learners to become aware of their mind, body and breathing. I also learnt that our students are curious and this poster might spark a conversation about mindfulness.  (Peace is taken from our weekly article: Mindfulness: A guide for Teachers by Dr. Amy Saltzman).
2)   Play meditation music while the learners are working quietly. My 8th graders are describing their family/friends in German so we have a couple of class periods when I can play the music. (breaks down to 45 minutes/day)
3)   I will also try to play the music when they transition into and out of my classroom. (60 minutes/day)
4)   Gratitude emails:
I started to send once or twice a month a random email to one of my learner parents just telling them how wonderful their child is.
This week I will try to send at least one or two per day.
*Interesting part about these emails is that I am always getting a thank you back within 24 hours. Parents are very grateful that I contact them about something nice.  (15 minutes/day)
5) I have learners coming into my classroom during our SPARK walk (walk around the hallways before homeroom, 7.40 – 8.05). I will try and play my morning mediation I am listening too and I am curious how that will work out.
(10 minutes/day)

I will also play the meditative music in the background.
